Former deputy minister of state assets, PiS MP Andrzej Śliwka, announced on Sunday that he would run for president of Elbląg. The current mayor of this city, Witold Wróblewski, has already announced that he will not run for the office of mayor of Elbląg.

MP Śliwka (PiS) was Deputy Minister of State Assets; In a dispute with the local government of Elbląg over the port in Elbląg, Deputy Minister Śliwka proposed on behalf of the United Right government to recapitalize the municipal company managing the port with an amount of PLN 100 million – in exchange for a majority stake – and thus financing the necessary development investments in the port.
The current president, Witold Wróblewski, supported by PSL and who has held this position since 2014, has announced that he will not participate in the elections for the mayor of this city.
Michał Missan, chairman of the local structures of the Civic Platform, announced his participation in the elections for the mayor of Elbląg. In the presidential elections he receives the support of his party, the New Left and the electoral commission of Witold Wróblewski.
