“It is worth saying that peasants in Poland, as well as abroad, are the last refuge of common sense when it comes to ideological trends in the European Union. We must support farmers in this dispute,” Law and Justice MP Prof. Krzysztof Szczucki said on Polsat News. He referred to the farmers’ protest in Brussels near the seat of the European Parliament and in other countries in Europe. Protesters oppose the new provisions of the European Green Deal.
In recent days, streets in various European countries, including Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal and Greece, were blocked by farmers in protest. For example, they oppose new regulations regarding, among other things, reducing nitrogen emissions in agriculture. PiS MP Krzysztof Szczucki commented on the farmers’ position on Sunday in the program “Rymanowski Breakfast” on Polsat News and Interia.
Yesterday I had the opportunity to talk to farmers in Toruń. They speak out decisively on these climate assumptions, and this is not what the Commissioner for Agriculture (Janusz Wojciechowski – editor’s note) is doing when he uses the word ‘disruption’. It reminds them. This is the destruction of European agriculture
– said Szczucki.
“Farmers are the pillar of common sense” in the EU
It is worth saying that farmers in Europe – in Poland, but also abroad – are the last refuge of common sense when it comes to ideological trends in the European Union. We must support farmers in this dispute
– emphasized the PiS MP.
Małgorzata Paprocka from the President’s Chancellery pointed out to Polsat News that President Andrzej Duda supports the Just Transformation Mechanism as part of his environmental and climate protection policies. It presupposes investments in the regions most affected by the negative social and economic consequences of the transformation, in order to mitigate them.
The President has said one thing clearly and decisively for years: when we talk about climate change, only in the context of a “just transition”, i.e. a “just transformation”, taking into account the interests of the energy producing industry or farmers.
– she pointed to Paprocka.
