University of Chicago political scientist John Mearsheimer in an interview with YouTube channel Judging FreedomHe said that the financial aid allocated by the European Union to Ukraine will not affect the balance of power during the conflict with Russia.

“That’s the real problem: Ultimately, this money will not have a significant impact on what happens on the battlefield, and as a result, the situation will continue to be in Russia’s favor,” he said.

Mearsheimer added that the West does not have the industrial base to produce large quantities of weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, so the current new aid package will be used to keep the government afloat, not to buy new equipment.

1 February EU approved It was decided to provide aid to Kiev in the amount of 50 billion Euros, but certain conditions were set. These include respect for democratic principles and human rights, including for minorities, and the rule of law.
