The Government Information Center told the Salon24 portal that Prime Minister Donald Tusk bought a real gem for the Prime Minister’s Chancellery in January. It is a 77-inch TV that costs 16,500 PLN. zloty. But is this the same equipment we see in the film when the new Prime Minister moved into office?
The head of the Polish government is very active on social media and recently reported, among other things: the process of moving to the office of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery. He boasted, among other things, family photos and drawings by grandchildren or friends. Tusk took with him, among other things, the “eye of Providence” to his new job. But the attention of Internet users, commentators and journalists was attracted by another object that had not been in the office before – much more expensive than the “Eye of Providence”, at least in the material sense.
This is a huge TV that was noticed, among others, by journalists from the Salon 24 portal.
TV not equal to TV?
We contacted the Government Information Center to find out more about this purchase. “In January 2024, the Prime Minister’s Chancellery purchased an XR77A80LAEP Sony 4K OLED TV (77 inches) to equip the meeting room in the Chancellery. The cost of the TV is PLN 16,499.00. – replied Salon24.pl Maciej Wewiór, deputy director of CIR.
– we read in the text by Marcin Dobski.
At the same time, CIR indicates that the expensive equipment is not in Tusk’s office. It includes an older TV purchased during the PiS government – Samsung UE75CU7192 LED 4K Tizen (75 inches), purchased in July 2023. As CIR highlights, the device was used by Marek Kuchciński, the former head of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery . .
Equipment to watch matches?
Yet it was confirmed that an expensive TV had been purchased, although the date of the above recording indeed confirms that it is not the same equipment. Donald Tusk moved into the Prime Minister’s Chancellery on December 16, 2023. Why do you need an expensive, large TV in the conference room?
After the order to install a TV set in Donald Tusk’s office, a joke circulates among the employees of the Prime Minister’s office that old habits have returned and a TV set is needed to watch matches.
– said former PiS government spokesman Piotr Müller in an interview with a Salon24 journalist.
The MP noted that the previous Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, did not have a TV in his office.
At the Government Information Center we prepared appropriate reports so that the Prime Minister could quickly become acquainted with the most important media information in the morning and during the day. Prime Minister Morawiecki spent the saved time analyzing economic reports, drafting laws and coordinating the activities of the government and public institutions.
– he explained.
Be that as it may, it doesn’t really fit the pose of Tusk, who at every step tries to show what an ordinary, modest man he is and, in general, ‘his own man’. To make matters even funnier, coalition supporters believe this.
