“Tusk is asked to negotiate additional funds, but he does not. Why? Because he is paying back the political debt to those who installed him as Prime Minister in Poland, and is pursuing a policy of attacking the United Right government for several years,” PiS member Adam Bielan said on Telewizja wPoland.
Member of Parliament for Law and Justice Adam Bielan commented on Telewizja in Poland on the issue of the President of the Republic of Poland petitioning the Constitutional Court to investigate the jurisdictional dispute between him, Prime Minister Tusk and the Attorney General. Bielan reflected on what could happen if the government were unwilling to comply with the Constitutional Court’s ruling.
We already have the first reaction from the government, because we have an unofficial leak on the Gazeta.pl portal that the December 13 coalition plans to bring up the Constitutional Tribunal at the next session of the Sejm. As I understand it, soon strong people will also enter there, just as they entered the National Prosecutor’s Office or earlier the offices of the public media. A few months ago this would have been unthinkable, but given what Tusk is doing and planning, we must also assume such a scenario, and I fully support President Jarosław Kaczyński’s statement last week that the Constitution is simply no longer applies in Poland. We are dealing with complete anarchy and total lawlessness
– he assessed.
Attack on TK?
Adam Bielan also spoke about what he expects after Donald Tusk’s government “goes hard” with the Constitutional Tribunal. The politician noted that the Prime Minister has strong support from EU elites.
Tusk has become famous in recent months for saying that he will apply the law as he understands it and that strong people will take over the subsequent institutions, so we can expect absolutely anything. All the more so because it is clearly visible that he enjoys the support of the Brussels elites – those elites who were terrified by the possibility of a third term of the United Right government and the need to negotiate with us changes to European treaties or the migration pact. It is very symbolic that just a week after Tusk took power on December 20, he agreed to a migration pact that was very unfavorable for us, but also very bad for the whole of Europe. Now we hear that he plans to agree to three new taxes at tomorrow’s European Council meeting
– he said.
The PiS member also commented on the fact that Prime Minister Tusk had set up an inter-ministerial team for the restoration of the rule of law. This is especially controversial in the context of the announcement to “clean up” the Constitutional Court.
In theory, we know what changing the constitution looks like. It requires a two-thirds majority vote in the National Assembly, meaning the constitution cannot be amended without talks with the largest parliamentary club in the Sejm, namely PiS. Such discussions have not taken place so far. What seemed like a joke not so long ago, namely that Tusk can change the constitution with a resolution of the Sejm – taking into account what his people do – is unfortunately not entirely a joke. I really don’t know how Tusk wants to change the constitution with the resistance of the United Right
– he explained.
The head of government admitted during a press conference that he does not rule out early elections in connection with the president’s possible decision to refer the budget bill to the Constitutional Court.
I don’t know how Tusk would do it – whether it be by a resolution of the Sejm adopted by a simple majority, or – as the constitution clearly states – he would need PiS’s consent to get a qualified 2/ 3 majority. With this statement, Tusk disciplines his coalition partners, his partners. He is very adept at such games between parties and coalitions. Look what he’s done to the left in the last two weeks: he’s humiliated them immensely
– said Adam Bielan.
First he announced a joint list for the regional councils, and yesterday – we heard from journalists who were best informed about the games within PO – he informed Czarzasty just before the press conference that there would be no joint coalition. The left was left out in the cold and with their support in the polls it is possible that they will not take over any mandate in the next municipal elections. I believe this message about the possibility of early elections was a message to the left: if you are not satisfied with the crumbs I have given you, you may soon have nothing left.
– added.
Grinding noises from the coalition
MEP Bielan assessed the possibility of the survival of the governing coalition, taking into account that Prime Minister Tusk treated his partners, especially from the left, with disrespect from the very beginning.
Let us not forget that almost all coalition partners of the December 13 coalition are parties and people very hungry for power. PO and PSL were out of power for eight years, post-communist left for eighteen years, so this desire for positions and influence, and on the other hand, the desire for revenge and vendetta against politicians who ruled Poland for eight years, will fuel that will be sufficient for the coming months.
– he exclaimed.
Later it will go downhill, because important problems need to be solved, promises need to be fulfilled, and yet the coalition partners have promised the Poles a lot and it is clear that they do not intend to keep these promises. There is no tax-free amount and Tusk will not change the budget to introduce this during the year. The salary increases for teachers, which have been so fiercely announced, are much lower than those promised by Tusk and are in fact only slightly higher than the increases already implemented by the PiS government at the end of last year. There will be stairs and an old Roman rule applies here: if there is no bread, you have to give people games. Hence Tusk’s strategy to continuously publish information about alleged pseudo-scandals of our time in the media, so that the media have something to do and cannot hold this government accountable for unfulfilled promises.
– added the MEP.
Local government elections
The PiS politician discussed in an interview with TV wPoland how failure to fulfill the Civic Platform’s election promises could translate into local government elections. He also assured that despite strong support from major cities for PO, his party does not intend to give up the fight for the largest urban centers.
The PiS political committee met yesterday. We discussed the first electoral lists for local parliaments, as well as the candidacies for the presidential elections. We have made decisions about the nature of the election commission, personnel decisions – who will run this commission and the staff. We are ready for this campaign immediately after the official election date has been announced. Naturally, this campaign will take place under very difficult circumstances. Tusk, who received the support of the vast majority of private media, reached out to the public media so that no one would disturb his good mood at press conferences. It eliminates the private media that are not subordinate to PO and does not invite them to press conferences
– Bielany admitted.
The MEP has not yet revealed who the PiS candidate for mayor of Warsaw will be, although the names Tobiasz Bocheński and Mariusz Kamiński appear most often in the media.
We have not yet formally made this decision. I think it’s a matter of the next few days. We are aware that it takes time to conduct an election campaign, but in all cities we will field candidates who have a chance of victory, even though we are aware that these major cities are currently the bastion of the current government, but we must also take into account taking up the gauntlet in large cities, at least to fight for more influence in provincial parliaments, which distribute European funds and have enormous influence on the inhabitants
– he explained.
New EU taxes
One of the main issues currently being considered in the European Union is the change in Brussels’ budget plans, which entails the introduction of three new EU taxes. They would fall directly on the shoulders of the citizens.
These are billions in costs, especially for the Poles, because they will pay taxes that go directly to the EU budget, over which we have limited influence. It should be remembered that in this case – as in unfortunately few cases decided in Brussels – Poland had a right of veto. This means that in order to agree to this decision, which is unfavorable for Polish citizens, we must get something in return. Meanwhile, in Brussels, a decision is being taken on a number of issues that, from our point of view, require enormous amounts of money, for example in all matters related to the thermal modernization of buildings in Poland
– said MEP Bielany.
It is little talked about in the Polish media, but several tens of billions of zloty will have to be spent on the thermal modernization of buildings in Poland by 2030, and either the citizens will do it from their own resources, or the state will have to do it. Help them. After all, we are dealing with a huge phenomenon of energy poverty in our country. There is no special European fund allocated for this directive, Brussels simply says: you have to spend several tens of billions of zlotys on insulation and changing the facades of your buildings. We don’t give you any tools to do this, we just provide huge fines if you don’t do it. Tusk is asked to negotiate additional funds, but he does not. Why? Because he is repaying a political debt to those who installed him as Prime Minister in Poland, while pursuing a policy of attacking the United Right government for years. For example, I would like to remind you of the withholding of funds from the KPO, which was released in Poland so suddenly – as if by the touch of a magic wand.
– added the PiS politician.
Bielan also said that, in addition to the financial problems that could hit Poland, the new EU solutions will force nation states to once again give up part of their sovereignty.
This is a prelude to the process that awaits us over the next two years, namely changes to the treaties. Brussels wants to permanently deprive Poles of influence on what happens, both in the field of taxation, because the right of veto in tax matters must be abolished, and in the field of defense, foreign and border policy. It will not be the Poles who will decide what policies will be pursued by electing subsequent parliaments and governments; only the Polish government can be permanently outvoted in Brussels. This is the idea, this is the meaning of the new treaties, Tusk was needed for this, because only Tusk cannot veto them
– said Bielany.
