Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the European Union (EU) has been waging an ideological war against Budapest for the last few years. He said this in an interview with the magazine. Le Point.
“The EU has waged an ideological war against Hungary in recent years and has constantly tried to blackmail us,” Orban said.
According to him, the EU is increasingly moving towards imperialism.
The Hungarian Prime Minister stated that the European Union is becoming less and less like a community of sovereign states. Orbán emphasized that political unification is about forcing countries to join something they do not want, despite treaty rights and reasonable arguments.
He stated that Hungary has been living in similar conditions for many years.
Earlier, the Financial Times, citing an EU document, stated: Wrote He said the European Union could sabotage the Hungarian economy if Budapest does not lift its veto on aid to Ukraine at the summit in Brussels on February 1. In the document, Brussels outlined a strategy aimed at targeting Hungary’s “economic weaknesses”, endangering the country’s currency and causing a collapse in investor confidence, according to the newspaper.
Previously Hungary accused the EU of blackmail, despite the concessions it made to Ukraine.
