U.S. Ambassador to Poland Mark Brzezinski and Adam Bodnar, Secretary of Justice and Attorney General, received special Business Center Club awards, given for “their contributions to the integration and strengthening of our country’s image in the international arena.” Forcibly entering the Public Prosecutor’s Office and appointing people to non-existent positions, without the consent of the President of the Republic of Poland, not to mention ignoring the provisions of the Constitution, really strengthens the image of Poland in the international arena?
Special awards from the Business Center Club were received this year by U.S. Ambassador to Poland Mark Brzezinski and Secretary of Justice and Attorney General Adam Bodnar.
I consider this statue an award for the generation of lawyers who have fought for the rule of law in Poland in recent years. One of the priorities for the coming years is to guarantee the predictability and stability of the law
– said the head of the Ministry of Justice. Can the headquarters of the National Prosecution Service be entered with a usurper in the absence of the legal National Prosecution Service and nailing signs, as well as blocking the access of prosecutors to part of the buildings, as “stability” and “predictability”? Probably not necessarily, especially since similar situations have not arisen before.
Fortunately, later in his speech at the BCC gala, Bodnar deigned to explain what he meant by this ‘predictability and stability of the law’.
A bill does not suddenly appear in the Sejm, introduced by MPs pretending to have signed the bill, when in reality it was drafted somewhere in some law offices or in the depths of the ministry. We absolutely cannot accept such a standard. All this must be done in a predictable and stable manner, so that entrepreneurs in particular are not surprised by regulations
– he emphasized. What about resolutions that were merely intended as an ‘expression of the Sejm’s opinion’ on public media, but ended with a forced entry into TVP’s headquarters and huge losses for the company?
Ambassador Brzezinski, in turn, expressed his satisfaction at the 25th anniversary of Poland’s accession to NATO.
Before joining NATO, I lived in Poland. It was a restless and uncertain country. Even though the war is happening hundreds of miles away, today Poland is safe and Poles are doing great things. Poland acted like a humanitarian superpower in response to the crisis in Ukraine
– he said.
The diplomat also said he was optimistic about the future of our country.
Other winners
As Jacek Goliszewski, President of BCC, explained in an interview with Polish Radio, special prizes are awarded to outstanding people from Poland and abroad who contribute to the integration and strengthening of our country’s image on the international arena.
Other criteria are, as Goliszewski emphasized, “strengthening support for transformations in Poland, supporting the market economy” and friendship with our country. The competition has been running for thirty years and special awards went to figures such as those mentioned by the BCC president: Bill Clinton, George Bush, Madeleine Albright, Jacques Chirac, Angela Merkel, Lech Wałęsa and Bronisław Geremek.
However, the list of names is not complete. The winners also include: Leszek Balcerowicz – “for his contribution to economic education and changing the economic consciousness of society, and thus the transformation of the Polish economy”, Janusz Lewandowski – “for the courageous and consistent implementation of the privatization of the Polish economy”, Bronisław Komorowski – “for active actions for the development and stability of our country, a policy of understanding and understanding, conducive to the development of the Polish economy and Polish enterprises. Other winners include Margaret Thatcher and , in recent years, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and even Pope Francis.
An interesting name on the list of winners is… Turkey’s leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who was honored “for systematically removing barriers to economic development, consistently pursuing the building of democracy and a free market, and the exemplary implementation of reforms, called the Silent Revolution, and for the development of bilateral economic relations between our countries and for the friendship between Poland and Poland.
However, it is worth noting that in the case of Poland, the winners of special prizes are people associated with a specific political option.
Brzezinski, Bodnar and “strengthening Poland’s image”
How does the US Ambassador to Poland or the Minister of Justice “strengthen our country’s image in the international arena”?
Almost from the beginning of his mission in our country, Mark Brzezinski has clearly found himself on a specific side of the political dispute – in 2022 the opposition, currently – the ruling coalition. During the PiS era, he regularly “worried” about the state of the Polish rule of law, met with opposition politicians and representatives of organizations that “defend courts”. Minister Adam Bodnar, while still working as Commissioner for Human Rights, especially during the Rule of Law period, was heavily involved on the side of the then opposition.
It is worth recalling that on January 11, 2024, a meeting took place between the US Ambassador to Poland and the head of the Ministry of Justice.
I am pleased that Ambassador Mark Brzezinski positively assesses the Ministry’s activities leading to the restoration of the rule of law in Poland.
– said Bodnar, quoted in the press release of the Ministry of Justice.
After the meeting, Ambassador Brzezinski wrote on the x-platform:
The United States and Poland share a commitment to the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary, which require continued determination and innovation.
A day later, Adam Bodnar tried to remove Dariusz Barski from the post of National Prosecutor, creating a non-existent position of ‘Acting National Prosecutor’, especially for his candidate, Jacek Bilewicz, and the following week he tried to force his way out to the position of National Prosecutor. the National Public Prosecutor’s Office. In fact, the restoration of the rule of law, “stability and predictability of the law”, if you look at it!
