North Macedonian Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski resigned four months before the country’s parliamentary and presidential elections. His words were quoted by an Albanian news agency with a branch in Skopje Telegram.
Parliamentary elections in the country will be held on April 24, and presidential elections will be held on May 8. The technical government before the elections will be headed by ethnic Albanian Talat Jafari, the speaker of the parliament.
“On May 9, a new government will be formed under my leadership and a coalition that will join North Macedonia to the EU by 2030,” he said.
According to the law, a technical government is established in the country with the participation of opposition representatives 100 days before the elections. In the upcoming elections, Kovacevski plans to take part as the leader of the coalition led by SDSM (Social Democratic Union of Macedonia).
