“The issue of responsibility and the responsibility of the state and government for the health of young women is not emphasized at all. In my opinion, this is a dangerous step towards them,” said PiS MP Anna Kwiecień in an interview with the wPolityce.pl portal about the liberalization of access to the so-called Morning-after pills.
When MP Anna Kwiecień was asked about Donald Tusk’s announcement to submit a bill on the “morning-after pill”, which is available without a prescription at the Sejm from the age of 15, she recalls the discussions on this topic after Law and Justice came to power.
It is not like people think that there is a ban on this pill in Poland. Tusk wants to force open doors. However, we could not imagine, and still cannot imagine, that this pill would be available without a prescription. This access is dependent on contact with a doctor, because doctors themselves said at the time that dramatic situations arise when young girls take huge doses of hormones without medical supervision. These girls do not fully realize the consequences this will have for their health
– explains.
There are warnings on this pharmaceutical product that it should not be used more than once a month. It was the doctors who indicated that young women with various problems most often come to them and when they collect the medical history, it turns out that they took this pharmaceutical product completely without medical supervision.
– he adds.
What is Tusk’s government playing at?
The question therefore arises whether Prime Minister Donald Tusk consciously ignores these threats. Anna Kwiecień has no doubt that this is some kind of political game by the parliamentary majority.
There was simply some pressure here, there was some vision of some freedom that was created around this pill. It is sold as a flagship product that offers complete freedom. Unfortunately, the consequences for young girls – future mothers – can be truly tragic
– she noted.
I would say that the health of young people is not approached hastily, but rather disrespectfully, because it is mainly young women who strive for it. In my opinion, this shows that the opinions of medical communities and gynecologists are completely ignored. I would like to hear the voice of gynecologists, especially the opinion of a specialist in this field
– added the MP.
According to her, the fundamental problem is the lack of sense of responsibility of Donald Tusk’s government for the actual health status of young women in Poland.
The issue of responsibility and the responsibility of the state and government for the health of young women is not emphasized at all. In my opinion, this is a dangerous move for them
– she noted.
In the context of the age limit for the sale of energy drinks and alcohol of 18 years, the popularization of the morning-after pill seems to be a particularly giggly logic.
It is even indicated that 15-year-old women can begin sexual initiation at age 15. I don’t know if my parents will be happy about this
– emphasized Anna Kwiecień.
