On Wednesday, the parliamentary inquiry committee into the postal elections will hear from, among others: former head of MAP, Jacek Sasin (PiS). We want Jacek Sasin to explain why, knowing that the PiS government would not be able to organize these elections, he still announced them and commissioned Poczta Polska to prepare them, said the head of the committee, Dariusz Joński (KO ), against PAP.
The parliamentary inquiry committee into the postal elections will meet again on Wednesday. Former Minister of State Assets Jacek Sasin and former Deputy Minister Tomasz Szczegielniak will be questioned.
On Friday, Artur Soboń, then deputy head of MAP, testified before the committee and answered most of the questions that “anything he had to say, he included in his freedom of expression.”
Ionian attack
The head of the commission, Dariusz Joński (KO), emphasized in an interview with PAP that in 2020, as head of MAP, Sasin oversaw Poczta Polska, which was organizing envelope elections at the time.
We have a lot of questions, so I’m considering a two-day interrogation of Jacek Sasin
– he declared.
He added that the main purpose of the hearing is to get an answer to the question of why the decision was made to hold the elections at the height of the pandemic.
We want to know why, when everyone was cooped up at home, they wanted to hold these elections ‘randomly’? Why, knowing that they would not have time to organize them, did they still announce them and order Poczta Polska to prepare them, throwing PLN 70 million down the drain?
– said the head of the commission.
Another thread that, according to him, needs explanation is why the then government entrusted the organization of the elections to Poczta Polska. He emphasized that the institution responsible for holding elections under Polish law is the National Electoral Commission. “It is also a signal for the future that no prime minister should ever think that he will go unpunished if he orders Poczta Polska, Orlen or any other institution to organize elections,” he added.
According to Joński, Sasin’s testimony could be crucial in clarifying the case.
He took a very active part in these events. He took part in meetings, oversaw the Polish Post and made decisions. I hope this will also answer the question of who will repay these PLN 70 million to the state treasury
– said the KO MP.
When asked whether he expected that Sasin – like Artur Soboń, who was questioned last week – might not answer the questions put to him, Joński denied this.
I will not allow Mr Sain or anyone from PiS – like Mr Soboń – to ignore the Commission of Inquiry and the Poles
– he declared.
Referring to the hearing, Sobonia added:
My intuition tells me that Mr Soboń will have the opportunity to appear before the committee again.
Request for punishment
Joński also informed that due to Soboń’s attitude, the commission had submitted a request to the court to impose a financial penalty on him. The second request, regarding the possibility that the witness will commit a crime, is sent to the prosecutor’s office. The third concerns the possibility of a re-examination of Soboń.
The fact that Mr Soboń exposed himself to the ridicule of the whole of Poland is his business. But the committee is there to investigate, ask questions and ask appropriate questions. We will not allow witnesses to block her actions
– emphasized the KO MP.
The resolution appointing a committee to examine the legality, regularity and purposefulness of the measures taken in preparation and implementation of the 2020 elections for the President of the Republic of Poland in the form of postal voting included: the need to examine the legislative processes undertaken by those in power in connection with alleged election circumvention, the administrative decisions they make and issue, and to determine whether the actions of those in power have led to ‘an adverse disposition of public or other means, or unfavorable management of the property of the public treasury or the property of other legal institutions’. persons.”
Statements by representatives of the December 13 Coalition clearly indicate that the main goal of this political camp is pure revenge. Also in the case of the post-election investigation committee, it is difficult not to get rid of this impression, especially after Dariusz Joński’s statements.
