The epicenter was located 121 kilometers west of Aksu, China, and 270 kilometers southeast of Almaty. According to the National Seismological Observation and Research Center of the Ministry of Emergencies of Kazakhstan, tremors were reported in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
