For more than 30 years, Jerzy Owsiak has been performing his shamanic rituals at the beginning of each year, with the aim of raising money for a just and useful cause. According to the information provided by Owsiak, PLN 230 million was collected last year (by the way, the “PiS state” allocated almost PLN 170 billion from the state budget for healthcare last year).
Let’s leave aside the doubts that grow year after year around Owsiak’s activities: all these companies, foundations, people, family ties, social networks, who earn a rich income by handling the money raised by the Grand Orchestra of Christmas Charity. Let’s ignore the fact that the costs of collections are passed on to state agencies and local governments. The new government had not yet taken the ministerial chairs and Owsiak was already dancing around the table shouting that the army, police and fire brigade would work for him again. Naturally, the services themselves will bear the costs of this assistance. A good example of nationalization of costs and privatization of profits.
There’s something new this year. Owsiak wrote a letter “to the PiS community.” Just a few months ago, Owsiak sent clear, eight-star signals of deep reluctance to the PiS community. During the election campaign, he placed billboards all over Poland for millions of zlotys: “Poland, let’s defeat this EVIL. We will win WOŚP.” Owsiak is one of the leaders of the eight-star pseudoculture. So there was no doubt about what the author meant.
Why does Owsiak not write to the Nation, but only to the “PiS community”? Or perhaps the head of the Grand Orchestra of Christmas Charity has thought the matter through thoroughly and felt the need to change his attitude? After all, as the leader of a major charity campaign, he should avoid getting involved in politics, as the devil does with holy water?
If this were the case, he should start his letter to the PiS community with the words: I’m sorry, I went too far with these eight stars.. It was a mistake. I respect you very much and I will do everything I can to correct the mistakes. Therefore, I declare that I will donate half of the amount raised this year to Caritas Polska. ABOUT! Then I would have believed it. However, Owsiak has no such proposal. Instead he said, “The orchestra plays for you too, it doesn’t choose anyone, it doesn’t reject anyone.”
Nowadays it’s complete nonsense.
It is time to come to terms with the fact that there are millions of people in Poland who, for reasons known to themselves, do not want to support WOŚP’s actions, but other organizations.. They have every right to do so. They don’t have to explain it and they don’t feel uncomfortable. Moreover, no one has the right to point the finger at them, encourage them to undergo re-education campaigns or participate in events that for some reason do not suit them.
The very address to the ‘PiS community’ indicates that for the author of the letter, the part of Polish society defined in this way is a group that he distinguishes and separates, and that this poses a problem. And yet the meaning of the letter is clear: now I like and respect you, because you also have some money that you should share. After all, there are eight million of you and if each of you donated at least a tenner, you would raise a lot of money. I will get the best out of eight-star players no matter what. They know that taking the annual collection for the Grand Orchestra of Christmas Charity and putting a heart on their jacket is their absolute duty.
