“The situation in Poland is becoming very dangerous every day. A team has arrived and is absolutely destroying the country without regard for anyone or anything. It is terrifying that he is doing this with the approval of those bodies and institutions that have so far claimed that the law is being broken in Poland,” Małgorzata Wassermann, a Law and Justice MP, said on wPolsce.pl television.
Analyzing the actions of Donald Tusk’s government, the Krakow parliamentarian warned that at the end of this road there is a threat to all citizens:
If there is no hard answer, no hard attitude, they will first destroy the state institutions – they may put us in prison, take away our salaries, give up our immunities – but please remember that as soon as they become bold (…) if they can, come to one of us. Maybe they weren’t so bold then, but remember those scenes with editor Latkowski, taking the laptop away.
ABW in the editorial staff of “Wprost”
The MP referred to an event from the period of the first government of Donald Tusk, when the Public Prosecutor’s Office and agents of the Internal Security Agency forcibly entered the editorial office of the weekly magazine ‘Wprost’, where transcripts of compromising conversations with PO politicians in the Sowa. and Friends Restaurant. There were attempts to brutally take journalists’ computers to confiscate material they had but had not yet published.
She also referred to important figures in European structures turning their heads away from the situation in Poland:
They came to believe that only Donald Tusk, whom they had thrown out two years before the election, and with their support, could remove Law and Justice from power. That’s why they put in so much effort, put in so much energy, blocked our money in every possible aspect, citing various absurd arguments. Today they are happy because this is what they strived for. And they don’t even really hide it.
Referring to the forceful and illegal takeover of the public media, the MP said:
I wonder what they were hoping for? That such a vulgar operation they carried out will find support in court and that they will be included in the National Court Register? I think so. Please notice how many titled people, especially lawyers, tell us such terrible heresies today. The regulations are literally being broken, and they are trying to make some contortions to show us that there is some justification for this.
When asked whether we really live in some kind of legal chaos today, or whether anyone really wants us to get this impression, Wassermann replied:
Of course we do not operate in legal chaos; the regulations are quite clear when it comes to recent events. Tusk and his team move like a tank. In short: we will destroy absolutely everything, there will be complete chaos, everyone will be tired of not knowing what is law and what is not, and they will say: okay, let’s settle it all again.
The issue is not just political
The former head of the Commission of Inquiry into the Amber Gold Scandal emphasized that the problem with illegal actions of the authorities does not only concern politicians.
Please note that questioning the function of the National Prosecutor must result in questioning several thousand different decisions. Let’s start with what’s interesting right now: eavesdropping. The authorization to establish them is signed by the National Prosecutor, Prosecutor Barski personally. Imagine we have investigations into very serious criminal cases, millions of dollars worth of fraud and international investigations with Interpol. Prosecutor Barski’s signature is everywhere. If, according to them, Prosecutor Barski was never a national prosecutor because he was unlawfully appointed, then there is no other option than to say that none of his decisions had any legal effect. When I hear them say that his decisions remain in force but that he has never been appointed, it is as if someone says that today I am the president, that I will sign a dozen decisions, and then it turns out that after that I am not the president. all, but these dozens of decisions will remain in force. We reach absurdity.
Only criminals can benefit from the consequences of this situation.
Yesterday I was asked whether I would be a lawyer in a criminal case and the wiretapping, for example, was signed by prosecutor Barski. Would I use that? And not only would I use it, but I am obliged to use everything that is to my client’s advantage. Imagine months or years of proceedings against the most dangerous criminals in the world, using, for example, operational measures and signed by Prosecutor Barski (…) Is Bodnar even aware of what he has done? Does he realize that when these people are released from prison, they will question criminal trials, seizure of property, international agreements, investigations, appointments and issues surrounding payment of salaries? Does he realize that two ministers are going to jail for something like that? [rzekome nieprawidłowości formalne] 2 years in prison, how many years can he face?
She added that the justice minister should “look at history, which shows that power is won and lost in the world.”
