President Andrzej Duda believes that Brigadier General has been dismissed as head of the CWCR. Mirosław Bryś performed his duties well. “I do not remember, especially in the context of General Bryś, that the army was used for political purposes,” the president said.
Duda was asked at a press conference in Davos on Wednesday about the resignation of the current head of the Central Military Recruitment Center. As he noted, decisions on this matter are made by the Secretary of Defense, not the President.
In my opinion, the General has performed well the tasks entrusted to him, but since the new Minister of Defense wants to change this, I only hope that the officer to whom he will now entrust these tasks will perform them as well as the General has done so far.
– said Duda.
The President also referred to the words of Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk, who stated in the context of General Bryś’s dismissal that the army should not be used for political purposes. Tomczyk said the promotion of the military cannot go hand in hand with the party message, as he believed was the case during the PiS government.
I do not recall seeing any situation, especially in the context of Mr General, where the army was used for political purposes
– Duda emphasized.
He added that increasing the size of the military is part of security policy.
If the minister is of the opinion that the army cannot be deployed for security policy, I propose that the minister consider the reason for his appointment
– said the president.
The Central Military Recruiting Center was established in 2022 under the Homeland Defense Act. Together with outlying centers and military recruitment centers, it replaced provincial military headquarters and military reinforcement commands. Bryś, while still a colonel, became the first head of the CWCR in April 2022. CWCR spokeswoman Lieutenant Colonel Justyna Balik informed PAP on Wednesday that his duties were temporarily taken over by General Bryś’s deputy, Colonel Sławomir Karwowski.
