The next European Parliament could see a radical change in the political balance of power. According to estimated calculations based on surveys presented on Monday by the Brussels portal “Euractiv”, significantly more MEPs held right-wing views. The right-wing Identity and Democracy Group (ID) could take third place in terms of the number of MEPs in the next European Parliament.
Who is on the stage in the European Parliament?
As indicated by the “Euractiv” portal, the Identity and Democracy Group, which includes: French MEP Marine Le Pen can significantly strengthen her position in the European Parliament and become the third power in terms of number of votes, after the European People’s Party and the Socialists and Democrats.
The portal points out that this will strengthen the right in the EP, including the European People’s Party, the European Conservatives and Reformists, Identity and Democracy and the Hungarian Fidesz party, which remains outside the parliamentary groups in the EP.
For example, as he recalls, these groups spoke out against the controversial law on the reconstruction of natural resources before the European Parliament.
This could pose problems for future environmental legislation

The European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) in turn are expected to be the fifth power in terms of seats with an expected number of 80 MEPs (currently they have 67 MEPs), just behind the liberal Renew Europe group, which may receive 84 seats. seats. This would be a bad result for the Liberals, as it would mean a loss of 16 seats compared to the current situation. The Greens are also expected to lose – and significantly – as they will gain 50 seats in the European Parliament (they currently have 71).
