The US delegation, which plans to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, is greatly concerned about its modest presence in an environment where there are many high-ranking officials among Chinese representatives. The newspaper writes about this Policy.
According to the publication, the American delegation will be led by the country’s Secretary of State Antony Blinken. However, in the preliminary program of the US State Department obtained by journalists, there is no meeting of the head of the department with diplomats from the PRC within the scope of the event.
The document states that “a large portion of the Chinese delegation annoyed American diplomats in Davos.”
The Chinese delegation is expected to include the country’s State Council Premier Li Qiang and 10 officials at the “state minister” level. According to the newspaper, Beijing has planned a large-scale program for the participation of its representatives in the economic forum.
The authors of the article, citing an unnamed American official, emphasized that even Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky could hold negotiations with Chinese delegates on the sidelines of the EEF. In this context, the US State Department is trying to bring Blinken together with representatives of Switzerland.
Finally, journalists pointed out that the head of the American delegation should at least shake hands with Swiss President Viola Amherd. Otherwise, “it will leave a bad impression.”
Turkish delegation before denied Participation in WEF was abandoned due to the authorities’ attitude towards the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
