US Senator Bernie Sanders said the humanitarian crisis emerging in the Gaza Strip was “worse than what happened” during the Allied bombing of Dresden, Germany, in World War II. He shared his opinion on air CNN.
“If I use the word Dresden, Germany to you, you think of the terrible destruction of that city during World War II. What is happening in Gaza in three months is worse than what happened in Dresden in two years. This is a disaster,” Sanders said.
He noted that Israel has the right to respond to the Hamas attack on October 7, but does not have the right to launch a war against an entire people.
“But you do not have the right to wage war against an entire people, against women and children, and the U.S. Congress must act because much of this destruction is being carried out with weapons provided by the United States of America,” Sanders said.
Before that, White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby appeared on CBS. statedHe said the United States is talking with Jewish state officials about reducing the intensity of hostilities in the Gaza Strip.
According to him, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken returned from the region, where he actively discussed with Israeli officials the issue of transition to low-intensity operations.
Previously The US Congress has called for an end to Israel’s “immoral” financing.
