I think it is very good, said US President Joe Biden when asked for his opinion on the change of power in Poland to a “pro-EU government”. Biden also threatened Republicans that if they do not agree to additional money for Ukraine, they will have to answer for the consequences.
I think that’s very good
– said Biden, answering a question from a Polish radio correspondent on his way to the Marine One helicopter about his assessment of the “pro-EU government” (sic!) coming to power in Poland. One may wonder whether the question thus formulated did not suggest such an answer?
Support for Ukraine
The president was also asked by journalists about Saturday’s elections in Taiwan, the situation at the border with Mexico and about further US support for Ukraine.
Referring to the latter issue, he said that if Republicans do not agree to release additional money to support Ukraine, they will have to pay “a lot” for the consequences of this decision. At the same time, he emphasized that he is open to major changes in immigration policy, a condition that Republicans impose on taking measures for Ukraine.
I heard a Republican say, “we don’t want border security, we want to hit Biden.” I have wanted fundamental changes at the border for a long time
– he said, adding that he is still optimistic about the ongoing negotiations on this issue in Congress.
The US does not support Taiwan’s independence
Asked about Saturday’s presidential election in Taiwan, the president said only that the US does not support Taiwan’s independence, which has long been official US policy.
