On Tuesday, the Presidential Council for Health Protection will start working on a bill on financing various treatment methods for infertility. Andrzej Duda announced his submission when he signed the law on financing in vitro from the state budget in mid-December.
In 2024, a presidential bill providing public funding for various infertility treatment methods will be submitted to the Sejm. The Presidential Council for Health Protection will begin work on the project on Tuesday.
Piotr Czauderna, who leads the study, pointed out that due to the major demographic challenges Poland faces, and at the same time taking into account Poland’s different views, the President would also like other, potentially effective, but currently unreimbursed, medical treatments . procedures aimed at diagnosis and treatment of infertility were financed from public funds.
The idea is to create an alternative for people who, for various reasons, do not want to use in vitro or want to remain in vitro until the end of their attempt to have a child. There is a belief within the medical community that the in vitro method is too often used at the beginning of the journey in Poland. In Germany, for example, before starting a publicly funded in vitro procedure, diagnostics must be performed to see if there are any other problems that can be solved.
– said the head of the Health Protection Council.
He noted that the proposed solutions will not conflict with in vitro, but rather complement this method.
We will try to collect the first information about methods that can be proposed as methods of treating infertility, which will be included in the presidential project.
– announces the deputy head of the KPRP, Piotr Ćwik, on TV Trwam.
As he announced, at Tuesday’s meeting the Council will deal with the preliminary identification of infertility treatment methods that could be financed from public funds in Poland. The next step, he said, will be to write a bill on the issue.
