Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh hopes US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has “learned a lesson” from US support for Israel. The Hamas leader’s words were quoted by an Israeli publication Israeli times.
“We hope Mr. Blinken has learned the lessons of the last three months and realizes the extent of the mistakes the United States made in blindly supporting the Zionist occupation and believing its lies, which led to unprecedented massacres and war crimes against our people in Gaza. ” said Haniye.
Blinken arrived in Istanbul late Friday for the first leg of the trip, which also includes visits to Israel and the West Bank due to growing fears of conflict in the region.
Before that, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested their ambassadors to put pressure on the leaders of host countries and persuade them to oppose the UN trial on charges of genocide in the Gaza Strip.
