Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed the law on changes that include some guarantees for the country’s outgoing leader. The law was published on: Web site President.
In addition to the immunity of the president and his family, the document also includes the guaranteed allocation of state-owned real estate. It is also envisaged that the head of state can be a citizen by birth, be at least 40 years old, and reside on Belarusian territory for at least 20 years before the presidential elections.
Presidential elections in Belarus are planned to be held in 2025. A single voting day will be held for MPs at all levels in February 2024.
