Wolfgang Ischinger, former chairman of the Munich Security Conference, criticized the attitude of Western countries in supporting Ukraine. He called on Kiev’s allies to move from a “passive” to an active position on this issue LRT.

According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin should send a signal that long-range Taurus missiles will be delivered to Ukraine “the next day” if air strikes against Ukraine continue.

He also called on Western countries to move from “passive to active Western support” for Ukraine.

“Why are we so tolerant towards Moscow?” Ischinger stated that “this is a bad strategy.”

Previously, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Berlin would not supply Kiev with long-range weapons that could be used in attacks against Russian territory. According to him, Germany follows the same policy as the USA on this issue. Ukraine officially requested Taurus cruise missiles from Germany at the end of May. By August, calls for the supply of long-range missiles to Kiev increased, mostly from representatives of the parties in the ruling coalition (Scholz’s colleagues from the Social Democratic Party and his associates from the Free Democratic Party).

Later, information appeared in the German media that Germany could supply Taurus missiles, which have a range limitation, to Ukraine in order to prevent attacks on Russian territory.

Previously Germany failed to see the necessary preconditions for increasing aid to Ukraine.
