Prime Minister Donald Tusk dismissed the members of the councils of: the Institute of War Loss, the De Republica Institute, the Central Europe Institute, the Generation Institute and the Western Institute, in the scope in which he has the power to appoint council members – Jan Grabiec , the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, told PAP.
The head of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery told PAP on Saturday, among other things: about the dismissal by the Prime Minister of all members of the Council of the Institute for War Losses Jan Karski.

Such decisions have been made and concern not only members of the council of this institute, but also other institutes founded by PiS and whose activities have been heavily criticized in recent years due to financial abuses on the one hand. , the appointment of both management and supervisory institutions, in these institutions by people who come directly from the PiS environment or are closely related to it
– said Jan Grabiec.
Due to the fact that these institutions and their activities should serve the public interest and not serve to strengthen the position of one party, the Prime Minister decided that it was necessary to dismiss the supervisory boards. In the next step, a thorough evaluation of the activities of these institutions, and finally the decision-making roles they should play in the future
– added.
He said the decisions were made Friday.
Will there be a liquidation?
When asked which institutions, apart from the Institute for War Losses, were affected by the prime minister’s decision, Grabiec named: the De Republica Institute, the Institute for Central Europe, the Generation Institute and the Western Institute. He stressed that the Prime Minister’s decision concerns the dismissal of councilors to the extent that he has the power to appoint their councils. He explained that at some of these institutions, ministers also have the power to appoint councilors.
To the extent that this is a Prime Minister’s decision, it was made yesterday
– he said.
When asked whether the dismissal of councilors meant the liquidation of these institutions, he replied that this would be done through a different law.
Before the Prime Minister decides on the fate of these institutions, their activities will be assessed and monitored, and an assessment of what happened there will be carried out. The Prime Minister will then decide what role these institutions should play in the future.
– noted the Head of the Prime Minister’s Office.
Today, the expenditure of funds from the state budget in relation to the effects of the work of these institutions is simply disproportionate. This is largely a waste of money. This requires an urgent audit and assessment of current operations and what has happened in the past, in order to make final decisions on how it will operate in the future.
– he pointed.
The Western Institute is targeted by Tusk
The Western Institute was also among the institutions where council members were dismissed. But what does an institution with more than 80 years of history have to do with Law and Justice?
The Western Institute @IZPoznan in Poznań, mentioned by @JanGrabiec as one of the institutes founded by @pisorgpl, in which the Council was therefore urgently dismissed and in which “the expenditure is disproportionate to the effects of their work”.
The problem is, Mr Grabiec, that the Western Institute in Poznań has almost 80 years of tradition and enormous achievements and was saved by PiS at the end of 2015, because it was on the verge of collapse at the end of the PO-PSL government.
They then failed to bring about the collapse of one of the most recognizable scientific institutions in Poznań; they want to liquidate it now.
Crazy curators absolutely should not let this happen
— wrote Szymon Szynkowski, also known as Sęk.
Prof. also commented on the dismissal of the institute members. Stanisław Żerko, an employee of IZ in Poznań.
I will expose Mr. @JanGrabiec: PiS could not have appointed @IZPoznan in December 1944 in Milanówek near Warsaw – especially under conspiratorial conditions and in the structures of the Polish underground state. I ask myself why
– He wrote.
