I have made changes to the composition of the Polish Accreditation Commission. The new chairman of the PKA is Prof. Janusz Uriasz – Science Minister Dariusz Wieczorek said on Thursday.
The Polish Accreditation Commission (PKA) is an expert body that assesses the quality of education at Polish universities.
As Minister Wieczorek recalled during the press conference, on November 23 this year he appointed the new composition of the Polish Accreditation Commission. the then Minister of Education and Science, Przemysław Czarnek. Her term of office will begin on January 1, 2024 and will last four years.
I made changes using my permissions. Of the hundred people, I have decided to fire about 25 people (…) and appoint new people in their place
– informed the Minister of Science.
He added that he also appoints Prof. Janusz Uriasz as chairman of the Polish Accredited Commission.
We absolutely want to maintain the independence of this body
– he emphasized.
“Representation of different environments”
He explained that the decision was due to the fact that he wanted the PKA to represent many different environments, all scientific fields and different universities.

– added.
The PKA consists of 100 members and the President of the Student Parliament of the Republic of Poland. Members of the Commission are appointed from candidates proposed by: universities, the General Council of Science and Higher Education, Rectors’ Conferences, the PKA Presidium, the Student Parliament of the Republic of Poland, national scientific associations and employers’ organizations.
