During Wednesday’s press conference, Donald Tusk was asked on the issue of Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsikin which the court sentenced Mariusz Kamiński and his deputy Maciej Wąsik to two years in prison.
The verdict – as reviewed by the wPolityce.pl portal – is an extremely unfair and political decision, and it was issued by a judge who sympathized with the politicized association ‘Iustitia’. In fact, it is a kind of revenge.

Tusk emphasized that he spoke about the issue with President Andrzej Duda:
I think the matter is very simple. I have discussed this at length with the President. Twice already. And I have to say that even though we have very serious problems around us, both outside and inside our country, I think that 80 percent Mr. President devoted our time during our two long meetings to Mr. Kamiński and Mr. Wąsik.
As you guessed, we have a different view of their past actions and when they came to power for the second time. I have said to the President, and I can repeat it publicly: I am not in a position to decide publicly whether his pardon was effective or not, whether the pardon was legal or not. It is not my role, it is the role of the courts and tribunals to resolve such issues.
Tusk then started referring to unspecified actions of Ministers Wąsik and Kamiński:
However, I have no doubts about that The grace of Messrs. Wąsik and Kamiński made them very bold. It has learned nothing. Neither punishment nor forgiveness. And it’s clear they haven’t drawn any conclusions yet. Their actions after this pardon, as ministers and heads of the CBA, were marked by a similar stigma as when they did things that landed them in court..
What did the Prime Minister mean when he allowed this? mysterious statement? Was he referring to the alleged misuse of the Pegasus system? If so, why didn’t he mention this case by name?
The second statement remains: Tusk had the case of his close associate and political protégé Sławomir Nowak in mind, who was caught committing bribery on a large scale by the Central Corruption Bureau. This is what the weekly magazine “Sieci” wrote about the case:
Sławomir Nowak was portrayed as a modern manager who would restore the road investment system in Ukraine. Praised by Donald Tusk and Leszek Balcerowicz, he came to Kiev and announced the acceleration of the construction of roads and highways. Today we know this to be true it has only streamlined and professionalized the corruption systeminvolving money laundering, bribes and financial schemes. He did not act alone. Nowak’s faithful friend was Jacek P. – a specialist in settlements, EU subsidies and other financial instruments.
Slawomir Nowak He is awaiting trial today, but will not return to politics in the near future. Could it be that Donald Tusk’s widely understood camp is retaliating for this issue?, also the part of him that works in the legal system? It is difficult to explain in any other way such a persistent desire to imprison people who have dedicated their entire lives to the struggle for a fair, free Poland.
