The mood of voters, who show a high level of support for the country’s current president, Vladimir Putin, affects political parties, which begin to express similar ideas and declare their patriotic positions. This opinion was expressed in a conversation with socialbites.ca by political scientist, candidate of historical sciences, EISI expert Alexander Rudakov.
The expert noted that the situation around the special military operation strengthens Russian society, which is confirmed by sociological data. The indicator of support for Vladimir Putin’s activities over the last 8 months has remained consistently high; As of November 11, the rate was 75.8%, according to VTsIOM.
“We see candidates from the largest and oldest political parties coming to the fore with the support of millions of voters. The party headquarters understands that only such a strategy can produce election results,” said Alexander Rudakov.
At the same time, the political scientist emphasized that a lot depends on the personal qualities of the candidate.
“In this sense, it cannot be said that Nikolai Kharitonov’s candidacy is a strong move for the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. The politician took part in the elections 20 years ago and received one of the worst results in the history of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation – 13.69% of the votes. The current situation raises serious doubts that Kharitonov can earn more, which will clearly affect the political future of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation,” says Alexander Rudakov.
The expert predicts that “with such a weak candidate, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation will hardly be able to maintain its place as the second party in the country.”
According to him, such a strategy may lead to a decrease in the party’s rating and loss of confidence among voters, as well as a crisis within the party.
On December 27, a deputy of the State Duma of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Nikolai Kharitonov submitted documents to the Central Election Commission for nomination as a presidential candidate.
