Structure of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office
The European Public Prosecutor’s Office, which started operations on 1 June 2022, deals with crimes related to fraud, corruption, money laundering and serious cross-border VAT fraud for amounts exceeding EUR 10 million. So far, 22 EU countries have joined the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, while five have not yet done so: Sweden, Hungary, Poland, Ireland and Denmark.

The European Public Prosecutor’s Office is an office with a two-tier structure. The strategic department consists of: the European Attorney General, responsible for the management of the EPPO (European Public Prosecutor’s Office) and the organization of its work, and the College of Prosecutors, responsible for taking decisions on strategic issues. The operational department consists of: European Delegated Prosecutors, responsible for conducting preparatory proceedings and prosecutions, and Permanent Chambers, which supervise and direct preparatory proceedings and take operational decisions.
