Mark Regev, senior adviser to the president of the Israeli government, said the Jewish state is counting on the “de-radicalization” of the Gaza Strip, as happened in Germany and Japan after the end of World War II. His words were quoted by the TV channel CNN.

Regev emphasized that he thought it was possible to “deradicalize” the Palestinian region.

He noted that after the attack on Israel on October 7, Hamas discredited itself in the eyes of many Gazans because it followed a path “based on radicalization, extremism and fanaticism.”

“Just as victory in World War II led to deradicalization in countries such as Japan and Nazi Germany, which are now healthy democracies, we believe something similar could happen in Gaza,” Regev said.

Before that, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu named “Deradicalization” of the entire Palestinian society as a condition for peace in the Gaza Strip. He has previously rejected international intervention in the demilitarization of Gaza.

Previously Netanyahu announced the key method for the release of hostages in Gaza.
