President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced Astana’s proposal to build a fiber optic communication line along the Russia-Kazakhstan-Iran route. This was reported by TASS.

According to the Kazakh leader, the republic means comprehensive development of cooperation in the field of information technology. Tokayev noted that a fiber optic communication line is needed to connect to existing international lines along the Indian Ocean coast.

The President of Kazakhstan also added that such a measure would not only create an alternative route for transit traffic in the Eurasian region, but also help strengthen the position of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in data logistics at the global level.
