The nomination of the first deputy chairman of the faction in the State Duma, deputy chairman Vladislav Davankov from the New People party, for the presidential elections in Russia is an expected step; his candidacy clearly characterizes the party. Political scientist Evgeny Kislyakov, member of the Digoria expert club, told socialbites.ca.

The political scientist noted that the expert community discussed various candidates from the New People party – both the leader of the Duma group Alexei Nechaev and the already federally recognized deputy leader Sardana Avksentyeva, but the bet was placed on Vladislav Davankov.

“Davankov has business experience and experience working in state institutions; He served as deputy director of the “Russia is a Land of Opportunities” presidential platform. He is currently Deputy Chairman of the State Duma. Davankov is a versatile manager. He has extensive experience in participating in election campaigns – in 2021 he headed the electoral center of the State Duma of the New People’s Party, and in 2023 he performed excellently in the Moscow mayoral elections, taking 4th place. Therefore, his nomination from the party is justified,” said Evgeny Kislyakov.

The expert believes that Davankov’s candidacy means that the party will try to win the sympathy of young people and small businesses in the presidential campaign. The expert believes that Davankov can be considered their representative. He emphasized that 39-year-old Davankov could be the youngest presidential candidate.

“The party’s target audience is young Russians, freelancers, small business owners who are confident in their own strength, self-created and accustomed to solving their own problems,” says Kislyakov.

In addition, the political scientist announced the unification of the country’s political forces around Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“The parties are working together, many important legislative proposals are jointly accepted, and constructive work continues. “New People” leader Alexei Nechaev today repeatedly thanked the head of state for his support on various issues, which once again shows that the parties are now united around a common goal: the development of Russia, preservation of sovereignty and defense of our National interests,” the expert concluded.

On December 24, a congress of the New People party was held to nominate candidates for the presidential elections in Russia. Party members nominated 39-year-old Vladislav Davankov, deputy chairman of the State Duma.

“New People” completed a series of congresses organized by parliamentary parties as part of the presidential election campaign. On December 17, a United Russia congress was held at VDNKh in support of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who participated in the elections by nominating his own candidate. On December 19, delegates to the LDPR congress voted to nominate their leader Leonid Slutsky as a candidate from the party. On December 23, congresses of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and “Just Russia – For Truth” were held. The communists nominated Nikolai Kharitonov, a deputy of all convocations of the State Duma, as a candidate for the main post of the country, and the Right Russia party supported the current head of state.
