“Is there a plan to sell off the national forests or land from their resources? Is there a plan to change the Forest Law, or will the Tusk government sell land from the Ministry of Finance’s resources to increase the budget deficit? – such questions were asked in the Sejm by Law and Justice MP Paweł Sałek. Has there been an answer?
National forests and the budget deficit
On Thursday in the Sejm, Law and Justice MP Paweł Sałek drew attention to some worrying signals regarding the budget deficit. The former adviser to the President of the Republic of Poland on environmental and climate policy, who has repeatedly warned about Brussels’ attempts to cut down Polish forests, asked several questions in the Sejm whether the State Forests would fall victim to a deficit of 20 billion PLN higher than assumed by the government of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
This is a mode to turn off the signal, because I also wanted to ask a question at the end, but I’ll ask it at the beginning, which is when the signal on TVP was last turned off, after 1989. This is a question for the entire government
– said MP Sałek in his speech.
He then turned to the topic related to the questions he wanted to ask the ministers concerned.
The deficit, which is larger compared to the draft budget presented by Prime Minister Morawiecki, amounts to PLN 20 billion. With such a light hand it suddenly turned out that the state would put Poland even more in debt with these 20 billion PLN.
– he noted.
After taking note of the absence of the Minister of Finance, Andrzej Domański, in the plenary hall, he asked three questions to the Minister of Climate and Environment, Paulina Hennig-Kloska:
Will the Ministry of Finance withdraw money from the activities of Staatsbosbeheer Staatsbosbeheer? This is the first question.
Is there a plan to sell off the national forests or land from their resources? Is there a plan to change the Forest Law, or will the Tusk government sell land from the Ministry of Finance’s resources to increase the budget deficit?
Do you want to move the State Forests and turn them into a unit for public finances?
We have not heard @hennigkloska’s answers to any of these questions. Will @MF_GOV_PL take money from @LPanstwowe’s activities? Is there a plan to sell the State Forests or land from the resources of the State Forests? Is there a plan to amend the Forest Act?
Hennig-Kloska talked about everything but forests
Minister Hennig-Kloska spoke just over an hour later. She expressed her satisfaction that questions were also asked from the podium on topics related to the activities of the Ministry of Culture and Environment, which she manages.
She referred, among other things: to the question about funds for waste processing, while thanking the Minister of Finance “for including additional funds for this purpose in such a difficult budget.” She has calculated in detail the amounts allocated for this purpose. She later argued that when it came to liquidating illegal waste dumps, the state “did not sufficiently support local government units.”
She also discussed the issue of additional funding for environmental protection inspections and the expansion of national parks.
Did she ‘dodge’ answering questions about the national forests?
