The court decided that Özgür Özel, the leader of the Republican People’s Party, Turkey’s largest opposition party, should be paid more than 1.7 thousand dollars in non-pecuniary damages to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for “violation of his personal rights”. Kılıçdaroğlu was president for more than 13 years. However, he could not provide the necessary support in the final vote at the party congress. Manisa Deputy Özgür Özel became the new leader of the opposition with 811 votes.

He is a private, professional pharmacist. In 2011, he entered the highest legislative body as a deputy from the CHP, and four years later he became the parliamentary group leader.

Formerly Erdoğan’s party supplied 28 allegations against Kılıçdaroğlu in a total of 110 years.
