The U.S. Supreme Court must unanimously overturn a Colorado court decision banning former President Donald Trump from participating in local primaries. This view was expressed by a newspaper columnist New York Times Samuel Moyn.
“The Supreme Court should unanimously overturn this decision… Disqualifying Mr. Trump from the election now would be the wrong way to show him a way out of the political system after so many years of struggle,” the columnist emphasized.
According to the author, the requirements of Article 3 of the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution are “far from clear” and Trump’s failure to participate in the vote could put democracy at even greater risk.
December 19, US Supreme Court of the State of Colorado prohibited Trump will participate in the Republican primaries to determine the party’s candidate for the US presidency. Presidential elections are planned to be held in November 2024.
