Tomasz Siemoniak, Minister Coordinator of Special Services in the new government of Donald Tusk, informed Radio Plus about the steps taken by the parliamentary coalition to liquidate the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau.
It takes a few weeks, then the government procedure, inter-ministerial arrangements, then the Sejm and the Senate. The coalition’s intention is clear: the fight against corruption must be intensified and other institutions must be prepared for this
– said Tomasz Siemoniak.
The minister coordinating the secret services assured that his political environment would ensure that new legislative proposals in the context of anti-corruption policy would not be – as he said – “quick interventions”.
The project must be thorough and consulted
– he reassured.
Tomasz Siemoniak proposed that the Central Police Bureau of Investigation, or a new structure within the police forces, should be responsible for the institutionalized fight against corruption in Poland.
I am discussing this with police officers and experts, whether the Central Bureau of Investigation should be charged with the fight against corruption (…), whether there should also be a central structure to fight corruption
– said the minister.
According to him, an institution as large as the CBA should not concern itself with minor cases of corruption, especially in the provinces.
ABW has had such tasks today from the very beginning of the fight against corruption in leadership positions. This vertical needs to be reinforced
– he added.
Greater competencies of KAS?
Minister Siemoniak also expressed the belief that issues related to the audit of asset declarations by politicians at all levels should be transferred to the jurisdiction of the National Tax Administration.
They have it on their computers. Those who control it must be there. It seems to me that it is a form of waste at the state level that the Secret Service employs people who audit hundreds of these asset declarations and, if in doubt, contact the National Tax Authorities.
– he argued.
In light of current regulations, the National Audit Office has many opportunities to verify every zloty in our account, or every part of our assets – noted the Minister-Coordinator of Special Services.
– he emphasized.
