Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is confident that the United States “will not betray” the country and will continue to provide it with financial support. According to local publication Vesti, the head of state made this statement at a press conference following the year’s results.
“I am sure that the United States will not betray us,” he stressed.
Zelensky also noted that European Union (EU) member states provided a large number of weapons to Ukrainian officials in 2023. Moreover, according to the president, the regional community plans to allocate 1.5 billion euros for assistance to Kiev by December 24.
The head of state also added that Brussels should soon agree on a project that will finance the country in the long term. We are talking about the EU initiative, under which the regional community plans to allocate €50 billion to help Kiev from 2024 to 2027.
Moreover, according to the publication, Zelensky announced the failure of the summer counteroffensive during the event. As he said, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) could not fulfill the tasks assigned to them because they “could not control the sky”.
