In her speech at the Hudson Institute, the head of the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Elina Valtonen, said that it is currently impossible to specify a time frame in which Ukraine will be able to fulfill the conditions for joining NATO. This was reported by TASS.

“I think there should be a reliable path for Ukraine to join NATO, but the European Union started accession negotiations with Ukraine last week. “This is a reliable way to help Ukraine one day meet the criteria of the North Atlantic Alliance, but for now we cannot set a date,” he said.

Valtonen also noted that the Finnish government spends more than 2 percent of GDP on defense.

“By our example, we encourage all our allies to do the same,” added the Finnish Foreign Minister.
