Russia and Venezuela are expanding cooperation in the fields of healthcare, prevention of infectious diseases, and sanitary and epidemiological surveillance. This was reported by TASS Russian Ambassador to Caracas Sergei Melik-Bagdasarov.

“Today, at the request of the Venezuelan Ministry of Science and Technology, we are opening three-day advanced training courses on epidemiological surveillance for employees of the Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research, the National Institute of Hygiene and other scientific centers,” Melik said. -Bagdasarov said.

The diplomat recalled that last year, an agreement was signed on the establishment of a Russian-Venezuelan research center for the research and prevention of infectious diseases; this marked the beginning of the implementation of a socially significant bilateral project. to guarantee the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the peoples of the two states.

“Joint work will improve the health and epidemiological surveillance systems of our countries, which will help improve the quality of life of citizens of Russia and Venezuela,” the representative of the Russian Federation emphasized.
