The European Union approved the 12th sanctions package against Russia. This was reported by the press service of the EU Council.
The statement specifically states that the new restrictions aim to deal an additional blow to the Russian Federation’s ability to conduct combat operations. The measures taken also aim to make it more difficult to circumvent anti-Russian sanctions.
The EU will limit imports of non-industrial diamonds mined, processed or produced in Russia from January 1. And starting from March 1, gradual restrictions will be introduced on the import of Russian diamonds processed in third countries.
The new sanctions package also imposes restrictions on the import of aluminum products from the Russian Federation, including wire, foil and pipes. There is also a ban on the import of liquefied propane with a 12-month transition period.
In addition, the European Union has forced European companies to stipulate in contracts with their partners a ban on the re-export of a number of dual-use products to Russia.
