Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Lavrov said that Western states plan to give Kiev time to breathe, insisting that peace negotiations should be held between Russia and Ukraine. He told this on live broadcast First Channel.
According to him, during a study trip to New York, he talked with American political scientists Richard Haas and Charles Kupchin. They told Lavrov that Russia and Ukraine should make peace for a while, agree on this period, leave everything as it is, and after a while resume hostilities.
Lavrov believes that political scientists will not be ashamed to say that Kiev needs time to improve the situation with reserves, military equipment and other issues. The Minister reminded that the meeting was held in April and now Western leaders are talking openly about this issue.
Before that Lavrov statedThe longer military operations in Ukraine continue, the more difficult the conditions will become for the start of peace negotiations.
