First of all, you need to find out what is happening inside, and this will be the task of the new bosses [służb specjalnych] – said Tomasz Siemoniak, Minister Coordinator of Special Services, in “Rozmowa Piaseckiego” on TVN24. The politician also announced that the new ruling coalition would liquidate the CBA. This will be done by means of an act, in the same way as this service was established. This did not stop Siemoniak from arguing later that the government of Donald Tusk would ‘fight hard against corruption’.
Will changes in services happen quickly?
He notes that procedures are currently underway and that he believes changes will happen soon.
When asked about candidates for new heads, he emphasized that he would not discuss them during the procedure, but there were of course ideas for people to lead the services.
He also referred to the fact that the President of the Republic of Poland gives his opinion in the procedure for the selection of new heads of the secret services.
The opinion of the President is not binding, we treat the opinion of the Head of State with respect – it is written in the laws – but the President has the right to express a positive or negative opinion or to refrain in some way mood. So I hope that mutual statements in the field of state security will be reflected in the President’s expression of his views. This issue is between the Prime Minister and the President. And as far as I know, this is subject to negotiations
– said Siemoniak.
He was also asked about the current head of the CBA, Andrzej Stróżny, whose four-year term expires in May 2024.
Each of these bosses is a serious person. I cannot imagine a situation where the Prime Minister’s subordinates, including the heads of services, would in any way attempt to question his decisions.
– emphasized the coordinating minister.
“The council has issued a positive advice on the dismissal of the service chiefs.
On Wednesday, the Government Information Center (CIR) reported on its website that “Prime Minister Donald Tusk has asked the College of Secret Services, the Parliamentary Committee on Secret Services and the President to give their opinion on the dismissal of the heads of the Homeland Security Service.” Agency, the Foreign Intelligence Agency and the Central Anticorruption Bureau, the Military Counterintelligence Service and the Military Intelligence Service.
“However, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz requested the dismissal of the heads of the Military Counterintelligence Service and the Military Intelligence Service.”
The council has issued a positive advice on the dismissal of the service chiefs
– we read in the announcement.
Earlier, the parliamentary committee for secret services issued a positive opinion on Tusk’s motion to dismiss the heads of the Internal Security Agency, AW, CBA, SKW and SWW.
Liquidation of the CBA
Is the planned resignation of the head of the CBA a harbinger of the liquidation of this service? Siemoniak recalled that the ruling coalition, of which he is part, announced this during the campaign, but for now a successor to Andrzej Stróżny must be appointed.
I will suggest some things, but it is the Prime Minister’s decision
– said the minister.
TVN24’s guest pointed out that since the CBA was established under the law, its dismissal should follow the same path.
The law should be repealed, but new management will certainly have leeway on how this service should operate in the coming weeks and months until the law is signed and goes into effect.
– added the Minister-Coordinator of Special Services. When asked if the law on the liquidation of the CBA could be signed by President Andrzej Duda, he stated:
There are things in heaven and on earth that philosophers have never dreamed of.
He recalled that it was difficult to imagine President Duda signing the In Vitro Financing Law.
I assume that the CBA’s position, the facts surrounding this service, mainly illegal surveillance, will give a lot of food for thought as to whether this is really a service, whether it was really an anti-corruption service or whether it was a was a party. service employed by one party.
– said Tomasz Siemoniak, who also assured that the new government will “fight hard against corruption.”
“Antoni Macierewicz stands outside time, procedures and the world.
The Minister Coordinator for Secret Services also commented on the dissolution of the Smolensk Subcommittee and the reaction of PiS MP Antoni Macierewicz to this decision of the head of the Ministry of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
It seems to me that Antoni Macierewicz is outside of time, outside of procedures, outside of the world, so he can say anything and I do not rule out that he will go to work somewhere, go somewhere – I don’t know – to his apartment and beyond to work
– said Tomasz Siemoniak.
On Friday, Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz, together with Minister Kierwiński, made a specific decision to dissolve this body, so all actions of Macierewicz from tomorrow will, because the deadline ends today, be private actions.
– added.
It seems to me that the seriousness of the state requires that when a new government comes and makes decisions, everyone respects these decisions, including those subordinate to this government.
– said Siemoniak, recalling that the subcommittee was once also appointed by the Minister of Defense. At the same time, he “forgot” that the then opposition could not respect this decision and repeatedly attacked the subcommittee, the experts working in it and MP Macierewicz himself.
“Anti-state action at the expense of Poland”
Referring to the anti-Semitic excesses of Confederation MP Grzegorz Braun, the minister, when asked whether there “could be something to do with the accusations against this parliamentarian of pro-Russian activities”, said:
After all, it was the evening when the government of Donald Tusk would be installed, the first government in Poland’s history to be appointed by the Sejm.
According to Tomasz Siemoniak, the matter must be “thoroughly explained” and cannot be said to be a coincidence.
Thanks to Marshal Hołownia’s reaction, actually all politicians, almost the entire Sejm, were lit Hanukkah candles in the Sejm the next day
– said the guest from TVN24, forgetting that it was Marshal Hołownia who introduced such norms in the Sejm.
According to the politician, the secret services must be “exactly aware” of the details of the scandal caused by Grzegorz Braun.
It was clearly an anti-state action to the detriment of Poland
– said the minister-coordinator for secret services.
It therefore promises that the government of Donald Tusk will not be a government of construction, but a government of liquidation.
