The new Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs reacted nervously to the Constitutional Court’s ruling. “We are not afraid of any trick, we are not afraid of any trick. If PiS thinks, and there are people within PiS who think, that television will continue to be biased, will continue to be sharp, will continue to bite and will not continue to tell the truth, then I want to disappoint everyone,” said Krzysztof Gawkowski of the New Left. Polsat News.
Gawkowski nervous. This is how PiS and TVP win
The Constitutional Tribunal has scheduled a hearing on January 16, 2024 on the provisions of, among other things: allowing the liquidation and dissolution of companies that form units of the public radio and television broadcaster. The Court also issued a protective order on Thursday prohibiting such actions.

We are not afraid of any trick, we are not afraid of any trick. If PiS thinks, and there are people within PiS who think, that television will continue to be biased, will continue to be snarky, will continue to bite and will continue to not tell the truth, then I want to disappoint everyone. This is short-sighted thinking, it will be different
– he emphasized.
When asked, he explained that this would take place shortly.
I am not in a position to announce Minister Sienkiewicz’s decisions, but everyone will be surprised that we do not have to wait long
– he pointed.

The Minister of Digitalization was also asked about the actions within the Ministry of Digitalization that he has already taken or will take first.
“These are decisions about the resumption of work regarding the Electronic Communications Law Act. The decision was made today, I signed the first documents today
– he said.
He added that the law on electronic communications will not include the so-called “lex pilot”, ie provisions that determine the order of TV channels on the remote control.
He wants to drive religion into the catechetical halls
Gawkowski was asked about the announcement by the head of the Ministry of Education, Barbara Nowacka, on limiting religious lessons to one hour, paid for from the state budget.
I am in favour. Although I would prefer that religion be fully present in the catechetical rooms
– he answered.
If religion were in catechetical halls, I have experienced it myself, I have gone to catechetical halls myself, I don’t think anything special would happen.(…) I respect Mrs. Nowacka’s decision, I like it very much
– he pointed.
Referring to the fact that catechesis education in public schools and kindergartens is guaranteed in the Concordat and that decisions must be made in consultation with the episcopate, he emphasized that these conversations had to begin at some point.
Here we go. We will see where we end up, but step by step we must limit the influence of the Church on the state. The separation between church and state is constitutionally enshrined
– he said.
On Wednesday, the new Minister of Education, Barbara Nowacka, asked on TVN24 whether she is in favor of eliminating religion from Polish schools, and replied: “I know the Concordat and I know what the Polish state has committed itself to. The process of discussing the form of the Concordat will take a long time.
At the same time, she added that in her opinion “two hours of religion lessons is excessive” because – as she noted – children have more religion than other subjects. “My proposal will be to limit religious lessons to one hour paid from the state budget. If the local government or parents decide they want more of these hours, that is their decision, including a financial decision,” Nowacka said.
Nowacka announced that she would try to include religion classes in the first or last class and ensure that grades in religion do not count toward the grade point average.
