Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk announced on TVN24 that the provisions on the conscience clause for doctors should be withdrawn. The new Minister responsible for Labor and Social Policy also addressed the issue of abortion regulations.
Already at the beginning of the program “Kropka nad i”, Dziemianowicz-Bąk announced that she was using the form “minister”. When asked if she was moved by the moment of her swearing-in at the presidential palace, she replied:
Of course she was moved, because for me personally it was not only a moving day, but also a moment of actual change of power, which we had been waiting for for eight years. (…) This moment of completion on October 15 was very moving.
When the presenter of the program recalled that Donald Tusk called her “minister”, the head of the Ministry of Labor said:
There will be no dogma in our government. I will introduce myself as minister
She then referred to the issue of Grzegorz Braun putting out the Hanukkah candles.
I would like to remind you that the left voted against the appointment of Bosak to the Presidium. We have said that this is not the place to represent a group that is not democratic and resorts to violence. Either Braun is outside the club and the party, or Bosak is outside the presidency. There can be no permission for anti-Semitism or fascism
– she said.
When asked about Jarosław Kaczyński’s words about Donald Tusk in the Sejm, she said:
An ethics committee would be the appropriate venue.
Absurdities about disabled people
Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk drew attention to the problems of the healthcare system for the disabled in Poland.
There are many absurdities in the Polish system. If someone is disabled for genetic reasons, there is no power to make the disability disappear. There is no reason for him to appear before the committees. This has to stop
– she said.
Referring to the issue of declining fertility in Poland, she mentioned… access to abortion.
Women do not want to become pregnant for various reasons. This is an almost complete ban on abortion. They are afraid that something will happen to them and doctors will not help them. This barbaric anti-abortion law must end. The first step is the decriminalization law. (…) This is partly due to the housing crisis and the uncertainty on the labor market. (…) We must strengthen the protection of women in the labor market. (…) It is necessary to send a clear message that a doctor has a duty to treat and save women’s lives
– she said.
She also said she was in favor of removing the so-called conscience clause for doctors.
The conscience clause is not something that should be retained, but scrapped. Certainly radically limited, if not eliminated. (…) This is a relic that should disappear
– she said.
The warnings given after the election results were announced about the new government’s leftward turn are now coming true. What else will Tusk’s new cabinet bring us?
