Radomir Wit, in the program “Campania bez kitu”, looked for a second, and perhaps even third, what was in the media statements of the President of the National Bank of Poland, Prof. Adam Glapinski. He directed his questions to central bank spokesman Wojciech Andrusiewicz, who recalled what happened during Marek Belka’s rule at the NBP.
The NBP spokesperson recalls Belka’s actions
Wojciech Andrusiewicz was asked about the NBP president’s statements in which he would talk about “what kind of government is the best and what voters should do.” The spokesperson recalled a 2014 press article that informed about “Sienkiewicz’s political deal with Belka.”
There were conversations in one of the restaurants where the NBP president expressed his support
– Andrusiewicz began, to which the interviewer, Radomir Wit, replied that this was “illegal eavesdropping”.
I understand that you cannot see the difference between what is the result of illegally recorded conversations and what is said at a press conference
– said the TVN journalist. Andrusiewicz pointed out that “after these telephone taps, among others on radio channels, Prof. Leszek Balcerowicz said that Prof. Marek Belka should resign after the disclosure of these recordings, and Bloomberg wrote at the time that Poland has one of the worst central bank governors in Europe.
The interviewer replied that “we focus on what the President of the National Bank of Poland says,” who “provides, among other things, a vision of what the government should look like in his opinion and what a good government is and what a good government is. bad government.” White wanted to quote a statement made by Prof. Glapiński to the media, to which the NBP spokesperson emphasized that the conversation was about the words of the press conference, so the TVN journalist should quote these words and not others.
Political and media hypocrisy
Where is Prof. In your opinion, did Glapiński violate any law or custom?
– asked Andrusiewicz, to which White replied that he was asking about “the NBP president who spoke publicly about his political view of reality.”
There is freedom of expression. The chairman of the NBP and editor Radomir Wit have the right to express their opinions. You talked about the press conference, but you didn’t quote anything from that conference
– Andrusiewicz noted.
You said that in your opinion President Glapiński is violating a custom during press conferences. I was the one who asked to quote something from the press conference. The editor didn’t bother to quote. The editor quotes the interview. Each of us has the right to be interviewed and express our opinions. Please indicate where President Glapiński has violated his office by expressing his opinion
– added the NBP spokesperson, to which Wit said: “President Glapiński said he is the right president for difficult times and he thinks the same about the government. Doesn’t that indicate clearly?
But what does this clearly show? (…) We are dealing with some hypocrisy here – politics and media. If the chairman of the NBP discusses which minister should be expelled from the government and today the media or politicians think that nothing happened, the Public Prosecution Service has also been involved and there has been a procedure for abuse of power. I would like to remind you that such a situation never occurred under President Glapiński. When we talk about a violation of political norms, we can talk about a violation of them and a violation of the independence of the NBP
– said the NBP spokesperson, to which White replied that he had asked about specific statements made by Prof. Glapiński, but he did not receive an answer and the airtime has already expired.
It takes longer for the editor to ask than for me to answer. We ask shorter, we answer shorter, maybe?
– emphasized the NBP spokesperson.
