“So let Donald Tusk say openly that the tradition of Polish national, Christian democratic thought should be ignored,” said Jarosław Sellin, Deputy Minister of Culture and National Heritage, in an interview with wPolityce.pl, referring to the accusations of the leader of the Civic Coalition against the management of this ministry.
Donald Tusk stated that “in recent weeks we are experiencing unprecedented waste and distribution of money.” The KO leader pointed in particular to the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, which reportedly “distributed half a billion zlotys among its own population.”
Accusations from Donald Tusk
Jarosław Sellin, deputy head of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, responded to Donald Tusk’s allegations.
I don’t know what Donald Tusk is talking about with his characteristically low level of state instinct. Apparently he does not understand that there are more than thirty operational programs at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. They are committed to all conceivable artistic, cultural and remembrance activities
– he said.
Therefore, recruitment for these operational, i.e. grant programs, is announced every year, ending at the end of November, and the money is distributed at the beginning of the following year, as special competition committees must assess the validity of all applications.
– he explained.
The deputy head of the Ministry of Culture emphasized that this practice did not arise as a result of the United Right’s takeover.
This is a lot of money, but it is simply intended for culture and culture people. I don’t know what Donald Tusk has in mind when assessing the expenditure of this money, because it has always been spent this way – under Minister Zdrojewski, Minister Omilanowska or previous ministers. The next minister will also establish this mechanism
– Jarosław Sellin explained.
Next year’s money will be distributed at the beginning of the year, but applications will be submitted at the end of November
– added.
Polish national interest
In the context of his accusations, Donald Tusk detailed the investments in Chełm, where the Center for Truth and Reconciliation will be co-financed. Lech Kaczyński and a department of the Institute for the Heritage of National Thought. Roman Dmowski and Ignacy Jan Paderewski in Otwock.
Jarosław Sellin gave his opinion on why these specific institutions provoked the indignation of the leader of the Civic Platform.
The two-man investigative command of the Civic Platform, Joński and Szczerba, who generally did not understand what they were talking about, probably tipped him off.
– he assessed.
Chełm is a museum about the Volhynian massacre. If Tusk wants to tell the Poles that they do not deserve such a memorial museum in that place, near the border with Ukraine, then let him say so. This institution is actually called the Center for Peace and Reconciliation. Lech Kaczyński, because in building this museum we obviously do not want to aggravate relations with Ukraine and Ukrainians, who need and have our support.
– he added.
The Law and Justice politician stated that investing in research into the past between the two nations is crucial for their future cooperation.
It is in Poland’s national interest that Ukraine survives and cooperates well with Poland in the future, but this does not prejudice difficult moments in history that demand the truth. Food and truth are also important for the Ukrainians themselves, who sooner or later will have to think about it and verify their historical policies in connection with this tragedy. If Donald Tusk doesn’t think such an institution is necessary, let him say so
– Sellin noted.
National thinking censored?
Jarosław Sellin also expressed his belief in the correctness of establishing and supporting the activities of the Institute for the Heritage of National Thought. Roman Dmowski and Ignacy Jan Paderewski.
As for the Institute for the Heritage of National Thought. Roman Dmowski and Ignacy Jan Paderewski, why does Donald Tusk believe that such an important part of Polish political thought, which resulted in outstanding figures, including the creators of Polish independence in 1918, who have their monuments in Warsaw, should not be institutionally protected become? remembered? The most effective memory policies are based on institutions, and it is a good thing that such an institution exists
– explained the deputy head of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
I myself recently participated in a film screening dedicated to the first Marshal of Poland after 1989, in the Free Sejm – Wiesław Chrzanowski, who was a representative of this political trend and a figure of the Third Polish Republic. It is good that such films are made precisely because the Institute functions. So let Donald Tusk openly say that the tradition of Polish national, Christian-democratic thought should be ignored
– he concluded.
