In today’s vote, the Senate voted in favor of the law on financing in vitro production from the state budget.
59 senators were in favor of passing the bill without amendments, as recommended by the Senate Health Committee, 23 were against and 3 abstained.
Earlier during the vote, the House did not support the motion by a group of PiS senators to reject the bill. The request in this case was submitted by: Michał Seweryński, Zdzisław Pupa, Marek Komorowski, Andrzej Pająk, Janina Sagatowska, Alicja Zając and Jerzy Chróścikowski.
Assumptions of the amendment
Pursuant to the amendment of the Law on Publicly Funded Healthcare Services, the Minister of Health will develop, implement, implement and finance a health policy program for the treatment of infertility, which includes medical procedures for assisted reproduction, including in vitro fertilization. The applicants (the project was a citizens’ initiative) argued that due to the relatively high cost of the in vitro procedure, its availability is currently limited.
Senate President Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, who chaired the meeting, said after Friday’s vote that she was very pleased that the Citizens’ Law had been passed by the Senate.
This is a very good start to our work
– she said.
