We have decided that these two things will be separated; the wind turbines law will therefore become a separate law; and there will be a law on freezing energy prices, which will be processed at the next session of the Sejm – said Robert Biedroń, co-chairman of the New Left, on TVN24 this evening.
Lex Kloska and the windmill scandal
On November 28, the group of parliamentarians Polska 2050-TD and KO submitted to the Sejm a draft amendment to the law on support for energy consumers, extending the energy price freeze until June 30, 2024, which also contains provisions restricting construction liberalize power plants. wind farms and wind turbines in Poland. The project was criticized, among others, by PiS politicians.
During Tuesday’s press conference, Chairman of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia said that the two topics included in the project “will most likely (…) be separated.” The issue of freezing energy prices will – as Hołownia said – be addressed “immediately” by the Sejm, and the issue of releasing energy from onshore wind power will be addressed “perhaps as a government project – the same, only adopted as soon possible through the government’s legislative procedures, because we need these decisions as quickly as possible.
“These two things will be separated.”
In the program “Kropka nad i”, New Left co-chairman Robert Biedroń announced that the decision on this issue had already been made.
Today we have made a decision, a decision has just been made, that these two things will be separated; the wind turbine law will therefore be a separate law, which will be handled very thoroughly and very calmly. And there will be a law on freezing energy prices, which will be discussed at the next session of the Sejm. And these two projects will be separated; a political decision has just been taken on this issue
– said Biedroń.
When asked whether this means that there will be no first reading of the so-called draft wind farm law tomorrow, Biedroń replied that “there will be no question, this project will be processed in a separate procedure.”
He added: “It is important to take care of Poland’s wallet when it comes to price freezes. Today we pay the highest energy prices for electricity in Europe and it would be good if Poland paid fair prices for the winter, not the prices that PiS has led to, which are terrible.”
Biedroń also said that “no decision has been made today whether it will be a governmental or parliamentary project.”
We want it to be a good project, well discussed, which requires the cooperation not only of companies interested in these wind turbines, but especially of residents and non-governmental organizations, so that we can talk about it together and calmly.
– added.
The authors of the project proposed to expand the catalog of strategic investments to include wind farms, which means that it will not be necessary to analyze the compliance of their location with the local development plan. The project is also intended to enable the construction of silent wind turbines at a distance of 300 m from buildings; At the same time, a change was announced to increase this distance to 500 meters.
