Elada Nagornaya, wife of the former mayor of Nizhny Novgorod Oleg Sorokin, transferred the Khokhloma Painting enterprise, which she previously owned, to the ownership of the region. This was reported by RBC.
This happened after Nagornaya wrote a letter of intent to donate his shares in the company. Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin expressed his gratitude to Nagornaya for his work in the company and for his support in the preservation and development of the Khokhloma Painting. The work of the enterprise will be supervised by the Minister of Tourism and Crafts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Sergei Yakovlev, and the task of the authorities as the founder is to maintain the team and ensure continuity.

Oleg Sorokin served as mayor of Nizhny Novgorod from 2010 to 2015, and then was deputy chairman of the legislative assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region from 2016 to 2018.
