I cannot imagine that former special services coordinator Mariusz Kamiński could sit on the investigative committee for Pegasus because he would have to appear before it himself, Krzysztof Gawkowski, head of the left-wing club, told PAP. On Tuesday, the legislative committee will discuss draft resolutions on the establishment of investigative committees.
On Tuesday, the Legislative Commission will discuss three draft resolutions drawn up by KO on the creation of investigative committees: for the so-called envelope elections, for Pegasus and for the so-called visa scandal. The bills were forwarded to this committee for further work after their first reading in the Sejm last week.
Gawkowski attacks Kamiński
Krzysztof Gawkowski admitted in an interview with PAP that the first investigative committees could start as soon as possible.
It should also include MPs who will not be questioned by them
– he made a reservation.
If there are arguments that someone should work on the committee and who could be questioned by the committee, he/she should be automatically excluded from it. I cannot imagine that Mr Mariusz Kamiński would be on the Pegasus Commission, because it seems rather absurd that the coordinator of services, who may have ordered these telephone taps, would today be the one accountable to and would work for this committee.
– emphasized the left-wing MP.
PiS demands proportional representation
The head of the PiS club, Mariusz Błaszczak, demanded at a press conference that his club be proportionately represented in investigative committees. He added that with eleven members of the committee, there should be five people.
PiS MP Przemysław Czarnek told PAP that his club has enough people willing to serve on investigative committees. He added that he himself would like to serve on the envelope elections committee.
Commissions of Inquiry
Last week, the Sejm debated a draft resolution on the creation of an investigative committee to investigate the legality, regularity and desirability of the measures taken in preparation and implementation of the 2020 presidential elections in the form of postal voting.
Voting was originally going to take place this way due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but voting in the presidential elections eventually took place traditionally.
The Sejm also discussed a draft resolution on the establishment of an investigative committee to investigate, among other things, the legality, regularity and purpose of the operational and exploratory activities undertaken: use of Pegasus software by members of the Council of Ministers, special services, the police, tax control authorities and customs and tax control authorities in the period from November 16, 2015 to November 20, 2023.
The parliamentarians also debated the project to create a commission of inquiry to investigate the legality, regularity and purposefulness of actions, as well as the prevention of abuses, negligence and omissions in the legalization of the stay of foreigners in the territory of the Republic Poland in the period from January 1, 2019 to November 20, 2023 r.
