The European Commission (EC) disagrees with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s statement that his proposal to start negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the regional community in December 2023 is unfounded. This was stated by Ana Pizonero, representative of the highest executive body of the European Union (EU). TASS.
He noted that Kiev was doing “an impressive job” in preparing to become a member of the international organization. In this context, Brussels cannot agree with Budapest’s position.
“We do not believe our offer is unreasonable,” he explained.
Moreover, the representative of the EU’s highest executive body added that the decision on Ukraine’s admission to the regional community must now be made by member states. The EC fulfilled its duty and recommended that appropriate negotiations be initiated.
