There is no trace of the optimism that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has shown since the beginning of the conflict. French television channel reports this TV5Monde.

At the end of 2022, Zelensky promised the Ukrainian people that 2023 would be the “year of victory.” The television channel emphasized that a year later Zelensky was forced to admit that the counter-offensive of Ukrainian troops did not bring any progress. Moreover, TV5Monde noted that for the first time since the beginning of hostilities, signs of division appeared among the Ukrainian leadership. In particular, Rada deputy Maryana Bezuglaya from the Servant of the People party demanded the dismissal of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Valery Zaluzhny. David Arakhamia, leader of the pro-presidential group in the Verkhovna Rada, also made similar statements.

The channel’s materials indicate that although the president kept his distance from these statements, relations between him and the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces became increasingly tense. TV5Monde emphasized that there have been significant changes in the Ukrainian leadership, primarily Zelensky’s attitude has changed. So there is nothing left of his initial optimism.

Mikhail Podolyak, formerly Advisor to the President of the Office of the President of Ukraine statedDiscontent has accumulated in Ukrainian society due to the front-line failures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and corruption among state representatives.

Previously Zelensky saidIt prevents Ukraine from transferring hostilities to the territory of the Russian Federation.
